Events in and around Hervey Fraser

As the seasons change in Hervey Bay and Fraser Island, so do the fun and exciting events in and around the region. From cultural festivals to outdoor markets and sporting events, there's always something happening. Here are just a few of the seasonal events that you won't want to miss!

Summer:

Summer is the perfect time to hit the beach and enjoy the warm weather. But, it's also a time for many fun and exciting events. In January, the Hervey Bay Seafood Festival is held, where visitors can sample some of the region's best seafood, watch cooking demonstrations, and enjoy live music. Also in January is the annual Fraser Island Great Walk, a challenging three-day trek across the island's stunning terrain.

In February, you can't miss the Maryborough Show, an agricultural show with carnival rides, sideshows, and animal exhibits. If motorbikes are more your style, don't miss the Fraser Coast Motorfest, held in Hervey Bay in February as well.

Autumn:

As the temperatures start to cool down in autumn, the events start to heat up. In March, the Hervey Bay Ocean Festival takes place, a week-long celebration of the region's connection to the sea. Activities include whale watching, seafood tastings, and coastal walks. The inaugural Mary Poppins Festival takes place in Maryborough in April, where visitors can enjoy live music, street performers, and tributes to the classic children's book character.

May is the perfect time to enjoy the cooler weather and explore the region's natural beauty. The Fraser Island Whale Festival takes place across the island, with opportunities for whale watching, eco-tours, and beach clean-ups.

Winter:

Despite the cooler weather, there are still plenty of exciting events happening in Hervey Bay and Fraser Island during the winter months. In June, the Hervey Bay Food and Wine Festival is held, showcasing the best local food and drink. Also in June is the Maryborough's Paddle Steamer Race, where historic paddle steamers race down the Mary River.

July is when the Hervey Bay Whale Festival takes place, an annual celebration of the humpback whale migration. Activities include whale watching tours, live music, and exhibitions. In July, the Hervey Bay Hockey Association hosts the annual Hervey Bay Hockey Carnival, where teams from across Queensland come to compete.

Spring:

As spring arrives, so does an abundance of new events to enjoy. In September, the Hervey Bay Spring Orchid Show takes place, where visitors can admire beautiful orchids and learn about their care. Also in September is the Maryborough Open House and Gardens event, where visitors can explore some of the region's most beautiful homes and gardens.

In October, the Maryborough's Relish Food and Wine Festival takes place, where local chefs and winemakers showcase their best products. And, for sports enthusiasts, the Fraser Coast Sports Expo takes place in November, where visitors can try out a wide range of sports and activities.
